Product Info
There's a quiet elegance to these vintage plates, each one whispering of simple gatherings and the beauty of nature's details. Discovered in a charming vintage shop near Lisbon, these pieces carry the gentle warmth of a Portuguese heritage.
Crafted in Portugal by Secla, and what we believe to be the beloved Secla's "Cortiça Cream" pattern, these plates feature a delicate embossed border of leaves and acorns. Though most of the lot we found were unmarked, the style and a single marked piece suggest they likely date back to the 1960s, adding to their authentic vintage charm.
The warm off-white glaze provides a lovely backdrop for the intricate relief design, creating a look that is both rustic and refined. Imagine these plates gracing your table for a cozy dessert, adding a touch of natural romance to any occasion.
Beyond their use for food, these plates offer a beautiful way to bring texture and history into your home. Display them on a shelf to catch the light and highlight the detailed embossing, or embrace the timeless tradition of hanging decorative plates to infuse your space with a touch of vintage character.
Being true vintage pieces, they carry subtle marks of time – gentle imperfections from their making, the occasional sign of use, and the patina of years. These small details only enhance their unique story and the sense of history they hold.
These plates are a testament to the enduring quality of Secla , a prominent Portuguese ceramics manufacturer founded in 1947 in Caldas da Rainha. For decades, Secla was known for its diverse range of tableware and decorative items, often drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Portugal and employing skilled artisans. Owning a piece of Secla is owning a small part of Portugal's rich ceramic heritage, a tradition these charming leaf and acorn plates beautifully exemplify.
These dessert-sized plates measure approximately 19.5cm in diameter and are sold individually, allowing you to curate your own collection. Being vintage, we not recommend dishwasher or microwave.
